The Cost of Woolen Fabrics
Let's talk about HumBird fabric pricing.
Have you never noticed that most of the wool and wool blend jerseys cost the same?
We work closely with just one mill in Italy and one yarn spinner in Germany. They know that HumBird has a strong ethical commitment towards our wool sourcing, and that is why we strive to purchase GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) and RWS (Responsible Wool Standard) certified yarn when possible. If for some reason we are not able to purchase either GOTS or RWS certified yarn, we always ensure that the wool we are purchasing is mulesing free (why this is so important.) Because we stand by this commitment, we will never purchase wool that does not meet these standards. We choose to sell our clothing using the average of the individual fabric costs to make it more straightforward and easier on the customer.
Our commitment to ethically sources materials extends to our Tencel as well. We only purchase Tencel that has been through the appropriate certification processes.
Looking towards the future, I can't wait to introduce you all to the new fabrics we have been testing out the last few months. We are excited to expand our fabric options based on customer requests, and can't wait to see what you all think!
Thank you for being part of the HB family.
