Let's talk about HumBird wool sourcing

### Let’s Talk About HumBird Wool!

HumBird has made a significant impact in the sustainable textile industry by offering high-quality wool options. Since 2019, the brand has been committed to providing responsible wool sourcing (RWS) options, ensuring that their materials meet ethical standards. Here’s a closer look at the various types of wool products available from HumBird and what makes them so special. Although the yarn maker is certified for GOTS and RWS, the final products are not allowed carry certification due to the involvement of all 2 handlers not being certified (the mill we use in Italy is not certified).

#### Root Wool

Root wool is a blend of 95% organic wool and 5% Elastane, ensuring flexibility without compromising on sustainability. The wool is always organic; depending on the stock, it may be GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certified or RWS certified. Importantly, all wool is mulesing-free, which means it is sourced from farms that prioritize the welfare of sheep. Notably, this wool is untreated, maintaining its natural properties. You can trust that items made with Root wool are crafted from organic, RWS, or GOTS wool.

#### Interlush (100% wool interlock jersey)

Interlush is HumBird’s New Jersey interlock, designed for ultimate comfort. This wool is also sourced from mulesing-free sheep and remains untreated, ensuring a gentle touch against the skin. Its natural properties make it a fantastic choice for those looking for soft yet sustainable fabric.

#### Threads (47.5% wool, 47.5% trademarked Tercel, 5% elastane)

Threads wool is another excellent option that is mulesing-free and designed for easy care. However, it's important to note that it is not superwash, meaning that if not washed correctly, it can felt. This easy-care wool offers convenience without sacrificing ethical standards, but be cautious with your washing methods to avoid unwanted felting—trust us, it happens!

#### Everyday Wool (90% wool, 10% elastane)

Everyday wool is predominantly sourced from RWS, although some colors may only be available as mulesing-free. Like Threads, this wool is also easy care but not superwash, so proper washing techniques are essential to maintain its quality. I have accidentally felted my Everyday wool, so heed the warning and wash with care!

#### Ecos (100% wool double ponte)

Ecos wool is another mulesing-free option that is untreated, making it a great choice for environmentally conscious consumers. Its natural characteristics ensure comfort while adhering to ethical sourcing practices.

#### HumClassic (95% wool 5% elastane heavy interlock)

Last but not least, HumClassic wool is sourced from RWS farms, ensuring high standards of animal welfare and environmental sustainability. This wool reflects HumBird's dedication to providing quality products that are both functional and responsible.

### Conclusion

HumBird has set a benchmark in the sustainable wool industry with its diverse range of ethically sourced and treated wool products. From Root and Interlux to Threads, Everyday, Ecos, and HumClassic, each type of wool offers unique benefits while adhering to mulesing-free and when available organic/GOTS/RWS standards. Whether you're looking for everyday wear or something special, HumBird wool is a reliable choice that champions both comfort and sustainability. Remember to care for your wool pieces properly to enjoy them for years to come!
